In reading phanetics' precis on Rodriguez: The Acheivent of Desire, I was greatly saddened. Achieving your hopes and dreams should never be at the expense of driving a wedge between you and your family. I have learned that family is so very important. And, when you have nowhere else to turn, family is always there. Education is a noble thing, however, everyone is not destined to attend college. My parents produced seven children. Currently, only my baby sister has attained a bachelors and a masters degree. Myself and my oldest sister are scheduled to graduate this June with our bachelors degree. That leaves four of my siblings without a formal education. It makes no difference to any of us three that have chosen to pursue an education, whether or not our parents attende college, or whether our other siblings will make that choice. The point being, education is definitely an individual choice. It doesn't make me any more valuable than my parents or my siblings, that I chose to educate myself. They are happy for me, and I am happy for them in the careers that they have chosen. I am proud that Rodriquez chose the path of educating himself, but I am dissapointed at the unfortunate high cost he had to pay for it.
